We have available bags of freshly cut WHEAT/BARLEY/SPELT GRASS which we deliver to your door. These can be kept fresh in the refrigerator for up to 10 days. Our wheatgrass is cut, bagged and posted all on the same day to ensure you receive the freshest wheatgrass possible. Wheatgrass once cut will still hold its nutritional value when kept under refrigeration. The wheatgrass juice is still intact within the cell walls until the wheatgrass is put through a juicer.
it is the juice itself which is very perishable and is best drunk immediately when juiced. Please note a masticating juicer is needed to juice wheatgrass. Powders made from chopped grass have very different properties than Fresh Juiced grasses. While powders make terrific economic sense for the producers, we do not believe they offer you much. The reason being that it takes a massive amount of wheat grass to make just a small amount of juice. However, it takes just a small amount of chopped grass to make a large amount of powder. Sometimes these products are referred to whole leaf which would lead you to believe that it may be more complete. The problem with wheat grass itself is that the human body cannot digest grass itself so it needs a hand. The juicing process, which is done by masticating juicers simulates the process of chewing on a level far beyond what we are capable of. This process separates the juice from the indigestible fibres so that it is available to you. Powders also need to be dried to remove enough moisture to make them last in a packet or bottle that can sit on the shelf. The exposure to air and heat often associated with this process damages the nutrition in it. So as a product, these are ones to be avoided because the nutrition is compromised and what remains is very difficult to digest and assimilate. Pros: inexpensive, widely available, simple to use and transport Cons: processed and dead, indigestible, health improvement association difficult or impossible to make, sources usually unknown, filler content unknown, often mixed with fillers for taste Why is fresh wheatgrass so powerful? Wheatgrass is referred to by health food experts as agreen superfood . As fresh wheatgrass is a complete food for many animals, it is no surprise that is packed full of essential nutrients. These include proteins in the form of amino acids, a vast array of vitamins, minerals, essential fatty acids, and phytonutrients, ideal for those seeking maximum cell vitality, which is a foundation for good health. A shot of wheatgrass juice is like a single complete supplement. It is a source of B vitamins, including vitamin B12, folic acid, and also vitamins A, C, E. Wheatgrass also contains minerals: calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, zinc and selenium. Wheatgrass juice has so many properties that we need to take seriously in today's world, full of stress, toxins and poor eating habits. The benefits of drinking wheatgrass can be seen in many ways - Green juices were dubbed 'concentrated sunlight' by Dr Bircher-Benner (1867-1939) (above), a Swiss doctor and pioneer of dietary health. He was convinced that health care should be much more than just medical treatments. In 1897, he founded a sanatorium in Zürich where he practised therapies which included a daily walk, bathing and sunbathing. He even set up exercise equipment, a kind of a forerunner of the fitness centres of today.
He famously invented muesli, and strongly advocated the consumption of more fruit and vegetables, which were traditionally regarded as foods for the poor. Contrary to orthodox medical doctrines of his time, Dr. Bircher continued to believe in what he called "the food of sunlight", meals based on natural raw ingredients. Green juices were in at the start of the modern health movement! Important legal note: Though we are happy to provide products and services which will help you to improve your health and well being, we do not 'treat', or aim to 'cure' any disease. Under UK law only a medical doctor may 'treat' illness and disease with a medical origin. The information in this web page is for information purposes only.
But then if you seek out a healthy alternative to processed foods and choose raw organic alternatives you may find that you don't get ill as often . |
